UGIV presents their inaugural project Switchback: Pausing Time in the Rocky Mountains of Canada which was produced during at residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 2008. Drawing inspiration from British author H.G. Wells' The Time Machine (1895), Switchback is a multidisciplinary project concerned with the preservation, compression/expansion and looping of time. Developed during the formation of our collective, this project acknowledged the unique set of circumstances that brought us together in a situation that we knew could not last. Seeking to capture the magical and surreal quality of a transient, ephemeral situation, we engaged in an attempt to interrupt the imminent passing of time
